Gift of karate

Ansei Ueshiro began his karate training as a young boy. He was badly burned in the last battle of WWII. The story goes, that at the age of 9 he stood at the entrance way of an underground cave where his family was hidden and he caught a fire bomb. His hands were burned like “mitts” and his neck was stuck to his chin and the doctors said: “Hopeless. What a waste of a life”. But the doctors were wrong. Ansei Ueshiro was saved by karate. His father and his uncles were warrior karate men and they surrounded him and like the phoenix rising from the ashes, Ansei Ueshiro became a world famous karate man, a champion of the Bo and the hardest working student in the Nagamine dojo, Okinawa. In 1962 he was chosen to bring Okinawan karate to the US. At age 29, Ansei Ueshiro began his own karate organization Shorin-Ryu Karate USA. Karate changes lives. Karate gave Ansei Ueshiro his life back and an opportunity to begin again.  Without his journey so many would never know themselves. Karate is a wonderful gift to yourself or a loved one. If you are going through a life transition or you just want to feel good, karate could be a match for you! If not here than somewhere.
