Lessons from the Praying Mantis

From the point of view of a child and there is a child in every one of us, the praying mantis is an insect, the size of a child’s finger with 6 legs. They sit still and sometimes blend like a flower or a twig. The head is the shape of a triangle. Their front legs fold and they grab other bugs to eat. The jaws are strong and they can bite and chew. Like cats, they clean themselves after they eat! This week for just a minute or two, we sat in the stillness and became the praying mantis. Interesting how sitting still is easy for some and others resist with laughter and talk. With practice and a willingness to learn, however, stillness can be rewarding in many ways.
