We celebrated the Okinawan Karate Dojo Water Olympics on September 24th. This picture shows the agony of defeat. Nobody enjoys having to step out.
There was much laughter and fun leading up to this event as we did practice for several classes but nobody wants to be eliminated! That being said, Jackson placed first, Seanna 2nd and Benjamin third. Eight students age six to age nine years old entered the competition and three made it to the very end.
The first 30 minutes was a warm up for the event with cups balanced near half full with water. At the top of the hour we began the official competition. Sit seiza (meditation pose), come to standing, warm-ups, arm training and kata and everything we normally do in a regular class we did at the Water Olympics only with a cup of water balanced on the head!
What fun and so entertaining to watch! 1st, 2nd and 3rd place were asked to choose from the prize table on a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place order! The little dragon group is now on two week vacation before we begin again another six week program.
